It Will Always Be A Merry Christmas

As Christmas quickly approaches and the year draws to an end, I wanted to take some time away from sharing my life story, in order to share with you the One who changed my life story. It is because of His life, death and resurrection that I am the woman I am today. He came to save me, a sinner, and make me to be His very own. This One, is no other than my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Question, who says that because we are going through a pandemic that Christmas is ruined? You, along with many others may think it’s going to be a horrible Christmas this year, but why? Is it because we are experiencing a global pandemic? Or because you can no longer do the things you are accustomed to - like shopping, attending social gatherings or celebrating with loved ones? As I reflected on the meaning of Christmas, it’s really not about any of those things we make it out to be. Unfortunately, we have strayed from the true meaning of Christmas and what it represents. Christmas is about Christ coming into this dark and depraved world, to die for us so that we can be reconciled back with God and freed from our sin. Christ came so we can have life eternal. Not only that, but Christ left his glorious abode in heaven to dwell among men, just so we can have access to him. He became poor, so that we could become rich. He became a curse so that we can be blessed with the blessings of Abraham. He died so we could live. In the words of John Piper,

“God’s will was that though Christ was rich, yet for your sake he became poor. The “No Vacancy” signs over all the motels in Bethlehem were for your sake. The Calvary Road begins with a ‘No Vacancy” sign in Bethlehem and ends at the cross.”

Why then, do we make Christmas out to be something it isn’t? We’ve replaced Jesus with Santa Claus, and the Gift of Grace for gifts under the tree. We clean our homes and decorate them with candy canes, ornaments and beautifully glowing lights; yet the home of our heart is trashed with bitterness, hatred, pride and greed. My dear friends, this pandemic doesn’t have to change Christmas for us, because Christ remains the reason we celebrate. Give Jesus the best gift this Christmas, give him your heart. He will love that.

For this Christmas Season, I’d like for you to ponder on the words of this song;

When I think of all he left, and what He came to,

I’m convinced that it’s the greatest mystery.,

Just to think that Heaven’s King, would leave it all and come for one like me.

Isn’t it amazing that He’d come to where we are?

Isn’t it amazing that a King will go that far?

Doesn't it amaze you, that we find Him in this place?

Isn’t it amazing grace?

For our sin and death He brought us life forever.

For our broken lives, He brought perfect peace.

From the shackles and the chains

The King of Glory came to set us free-He set us free

Right where you are, He’ll meet with you. Just as He met me in my dark, sinful and broken condition, He will meet you in your brokenness. He’ll meet you there.

Epilogue

Wishing you and your family a wonderful and Merry Christmas! Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs throughout the year, especially to those who have commented, subscribed, shared and even sent private messages stating how you have been encouraged. Your kind words and actions have encouraged me in ways I couldn’t have imagined, and continually motivate me to keep writing. Thank you.

I also take this opportunity to thank my chief editor - my daughter. Thank you for the continous hours you put in, reading and rereading my writings. I greatly appreciate your support. Thank you to my husband, and the rest of my family, who have allowed me to share our stories with you. I love you all so much!

As I reflect on this year, it’s certainly one I will never forget - not because of the pandemic, but because of the method God used for me to share my life story. I never thought I could have shared so openly, nor did I think God would minister to so many people through my brokenness. He truly has made something beautiful of my life and I am eternally thankful. I’m looking forward to all that God has in store for 2021 God willing, and will resume my posts in the new year. Stay Safe, Stay tuned, but until then...

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
